Getting something positive out of a hectic day.

Waking up at around 8am this morning was a nightmare! I'm not used to early morning starts (despite having two a week on my course) but I'm usually fine with them. Yet after having about three hours sleep last night, I felt awful this morning. And it was freezing cold, which almost made me stay in bed and hide away from the day.

But looking back on the day, I'm so pleased I didn't choose that option because I got loads done, uni assignment wise anyway. I've decided to do a story for one of my assignments about student nightlife in Stoke, but focusing on an area where student nightlife isn't so popular. This meant me choosing to venture into Stoke this afternoon, which is about a 15 minute walk away.

But once I got there, disaster struck. Nothing ever goes smoothly with me, and today was no different. I got to the pub where I wanted to interview the staff, but the staff told me that I'd be best talking to the manager, who wasn't going to be in until 3. So I went over to a shop called Aisle of Brides (yes, it's a brides shop, and yes, it was embarrassing walking in), but not by personal choice- supposedly the owner of the shop created the idea of student nights in the area. But when I got there, I was told that the owner was on holiday...until next Tuesday, the day of my deadline.

Being as though the time was only about 1.45pm, I decided to walk home with my head hung low. Expecting the worst in the story, I actually didn't want to go back out again...but, being as though I wanted to get things done today, I did.

And when I got to Stoke and began interviewing people, I started to feel at ease with everything. The people I interviewed were beyond helpful and really passionate about what they'd promoted, and I really enjoyed talking to them. I even got offered to go to a meeting of the trader group to get more information, but it was just a shame that this was organised a day after my deadline.

I finished interviewing at about 5, and went home and straight away got typing the story up. I'm not entirely happy with it so far, but I've got five days to get it in order. Which is completely different to the last assignment, where I had only a few hours to get it done thanks to my procrastination. Hoorah for being organised!
